The Journey

Service to Country

Randy Flowers is a U.S. Navy veteran whose military service carried him across the globe and exposed him to a wide range of cultures and communities. His experiences abroad strengthened his belief in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and in the promise of American democracy. The oath he swore to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” remains a guiding force in his life.

Commitment to Civil Rights

Randy has been a central figure in civil rights work in Rock Island County for decades. He is a founding member and past vice president of the current Rock Island County NAACP branch. At his very first NAACP event, he helped secure then‑State Senator Barack Obama as the keynote speaker—an early example of his ability to build connections and elevate community voices. In 2025, Randy was honored with the Rock Island County NAACP Charles Toney, Sr. Civil Rights Hero Image Award, recognizing his long-standing dedication to justice, equality, and community empowerment.

Resilience and Health Battles

Randy’s life has also been marked by profound personal trials. He has survived two battles with cancer and undergone a stem cell transplant. These experiences deepened his faith, sharpened his sense of urgency, and strengthened his resolve to fight for a health care system and a government that truly stand with people in their hardest moments.

Founder of the Liberty & Justice Movement

In February 2025, Randy founded the Liberty & Justice Movement, a bi‑state grassroots civil rights organization that has grown to more than 1,100 members across Illinois and Iowa. Under his leadership, the movement has organized multiple protest rallies, community actions, and a major march for justice. The organization has become a powerful voice for liberty, justice and equal protections under the law. He will take this same grassroots energy to the Capitol to demand fair treatment and honest leadership for our district.

Family, Loss, and Lived Experience

Randy is the father of three daughters and a son who passed away in 2020 at the age of 27. As a single parent raising children active in band and sports, he understands the financial and emotional pressures facing everyday families. Navigating both the responsibilities of parenthood and the heartbreak of losing a child has given Randy a deep understanding of the challenges many families face. His personal journey and lived experience continue to drive his commitment to economic fairness, opportunity, and strong community support systems. Randy and his wife, Angie, live in Rock Island.

Education and Civic Engagement

With an honors paralegal degree from Blackhawk College and decades of hands‑on advocacy, Randy brings both legal training and community‑centered experience to his work. His background has made him a respected voice on issues of justice, civil rights, and government accountability. He remains dedicated to uniting people across cultural backgrounds to build a more inclusive and equitable future.

Why I'm Running

Fight for Freedom - Defend the Constitution - Oppose Tyranny

I am running for Congress because our community deserves a representative who understands the weight of the constitutional crisis facing our nation, not one who avoids controversy for comfort. We need a congressman who will confront power, not bow down to it. A seat in Congress is not about status; it is about service to the people with integrity and commitment.

My life has been defined by service—first in the U.S. Navy and then as a tireless advocate for civil rights. Leadership requires courage in the relentless pursuit of justice and equity and the bravery to demand accountability in the halls of power.

I am also running because my opponent’s record shows a profound failure of moral leadership. He voted for the Laken Riley Act and for resolutions that expressed "gratitude" to I.C.E. and to honor extremist voices like Charlie Kirk, while refusing even to recognize the murder of Nicole Renee Good or speak her name on the House floor. He has chosen to be politically safe with the Republican MAGA movement over real public safety, praise for power over compassion for victims, and protection of the regime over accountability to the people.

Government has lost interest in the everyday struggles of working families. Wages are stagnant and declining with the rise of inflation. Housing, groceries, transportation, utilities, insurance (health, auto, homeowners or rental, life and burial) and the widening pay gap between executives and wage-earners have become barriers to saving and building a secure future.  I've raised my children as a single father, so I understand the many challenges of working families and single parents face every day.

It's time for a movement that prioritizes people over billionaires and partisan politics, ensuring that every voice is heard and every citizen is treated with the dignity and respect. We need strong unions, thriving wages, affordable housing and automobiles and lower insurance premiums to narrow the wealth gap and rebuild the middle class.

I refuse to stand idly by and watch as our Constitutional Republic is annihilated, and our system of checks and balances is paralyzed by a tyranny that rejects accountability. I don't want my grandchildren, or any child, or the generations that follow, to be forced to live under the yoke of fascism.

My ancestors fought for liberty and representation in the Revolutionary War, and I am committed to faithfully defending their legacy of self-government. In times such as this, when dictatorship has a stranglehold on institutions of power, resistance is our solemn duty. I stand with firm resolve and clarity of purpose with the enduring mandate of the Constitution to fight on.

I will confront authoritarianism with moral courage, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

While Congress and the Supreme Court have relinquished much of their power to control this regime, We the People are the last check and balance still standing. Future generations deserve to grow up in a nation where freedom and justice are not a distant memory but a living promise.

I will not compromise with fascists. The constitutional laws that guide our government and the Bill of Rights which defends and preserves our freedoms are non-negotiable. I am driven by conviction to defend our democratic principles with the same resolve and revolutionary spirit that guided our forebearers.

When I volunteered to serve in the United States Navy, I took an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same,” and I will honor that oath until my final breath. This is not politics as usual. The rules are not the same. The laws have been flipped to protect the loyalists from their crimes. We cannot pretend we still live in a state of normalcy. Civility with fascists is not an option.

We need bold, courageous leadership with the intestinal fortitude to speak undeniable truth to fascist power, not a timid, mild-mannered, low-profile congressman who steps lightly so as not to be noticed by the powerful regime. I promise to be a congressman, defiant, not a congressman defeated.

This moment demands more than routine politics; it demands the art of statecraft — the courage to confront the cold, hard facts, the bravery to defend democratic principles, and the steadfast grit to lead with integrity when the stakes are perilous.
